Multiplayer Belief Revision and Accuracy Orders
نویسندگان
چکیده
A syntactical and a semantical framework are proposed for the modeling of a hierarchical belief structure and of a message characterized by its content and status. For a given message, a multiplayer belief revision rule that transforms any initial belief structure into a &nal belief structure is designed. Several accuracy relations are introduced in order to express the formal conditions under which a belief structure can be said more accurate than another. Finally, it is proved that accuracy can be carried from the message to the &nal belief for a given initial belief. Journal of Economic Literature Classi&cation Number: C72.

Multiplayer Belief Revision
One main topic of the epistemic program of game theory deals with the value of information. To study this question in a broad context, one needs to adapt some of the tools used in multiplayer epistemic logic. A hierarchical belief structure is introduced both in a syntactical and a semantical framework. In the same framework, a generalized notion of message is characterized by its content and i...
متن کاملNon-characterizability of belief revision: an application of finite model theory
A formal framework is given for the characterizability of a class of belief revision operators, defined using minimization over a class of partial preorders, by postulates. It is shown that for partial orders characterizability implies a definability property of the class of partial orders in monadic second-order logic. Based on a non-definability result for a class of partial orders, an exampl...
متن کاملRevising Partial Pre-Orders with Partial Pre-Orders: A Unit-Based Revision Framework
Belief revision studies strategies about how agents revise their belief states when receiving new evidence. Both in classical belief revision and in epistemic revision, a new input is either in the form of a (weighted) propositional formula or a total pre-order (where the total pre-order is considered as a whole). However, in some real-world applications, a new input can be a partial pre-order ...
متن کاملBelief change and pre-orders: a brief overview
This paper deals with iterated belief change. Epistemic states are suitable to represent an intelligent agent’s knowledge. Most of the time, when dealing with geographic information, the agent faces incomplete, uncertain, or inaccurate information and needs a mechanism for either revision, update or fusion to handle his change in beliefs in the presence of new items of information. After some p...
متن کاملRevision over Partial Pre-orders: A Postulational Study
Belief revision is the process that incorporates, in a consistent way, a new piece of information, called input, into a belief base. When both belief bases and inputs are propositional formulas, a set of natural and rational properties, known as AGM postulates, have been proposed to define genuine revision operations. This paper addresses the following important issue : How to revise a partiall...
